This is probably an underlooked site, maybe 45 minutes east of Tulum. Very cool. In the middle of jungle, this city has 6,000 sites that have not been excavated yet. It's huge. It used to be a city of 70km2, bigger than SF, with a population at its peak 800AD of 55,000 people. The architecture is also different from the rest of Yucatan. Anyways that's all I know. One great thing also is that you can climb to the top of the big pyramid, although I'm surprised there's not a few dead bodies at the bottom because these stairs are so steep. I wonder how often they were going at the top of these things 1200 years ago. The other side of that big pyramid has still not been excavated and it just looks like a rocky hill, interesting... As the site is pretty large, we got taxied around on these tricycles, it was very pleasant. And air plants are some kind of fancy thing in SF, here in the jungle they grow just everywhere, cool looking plants!
